The Fulton County Economic Development Corporation (FCEDC) is ready with the tools, talents and resources to help you locate close to our liquid assets of milk and water. The county enjoys an abundance of water which makes us particularly attractive to a wide variety of users. With its NYS Certified Bacteriological Environmental Laboratory, Fulton County has over one billion gallons of available water in storage and has not experienced a water shortage or restriction in decades. It is capable of delivering several million gallons of pure, filtered water per day in addition to what it is already serving to the community without stressing its resources. Manufactures in the area, including textile and leather producers, have long enjoyed the consistent high quality water to affordably and effectively produce their product.
In addition to the abundance of water, Fulton County is fortunate to have a state-of-the-art wastewater treatment plant. The Gloversville-Johnstown Joint Wastewater Treatment Facility is designed to treat up to 13.8 mgd of domestic sanitary sewage from the cities of Gloversville and Johnstown as well as industrial wastewater. Peak treatment capacity is 30 mgd. A $2.2 million dollar grant was recently received at the facility to increase capacity even more.
FAGE USA, a subsidiary of the largest dairy producer in Greece, found a home in Fulton County. The $85 million, 110,000 square foot state-of-the-art yogurt manufacturing plant is FAGE’S first facility in the United States. A project of this magnitude required teamwork and months of skilled planning. Fortunately, Fulton County has, in addition to the FCEDC staff, professionals at the county and city levels that are capable of making good things happen for their communities. EUPHRATES, INC., of Turkey selected Fulton County to be its first U.S. location manufacturing feta cheese. The plant began production in 2002 and has grown, adding products for its U.S. market. Euphrates located in Fulton County following a search throughout the Northeast. The proximity to dairy producers, transportation resources and a progressive business environment all combined to create a formula for success.. Since their arrival, production has doubled to 50,000 pounds of feta cheese a day.
